Morning Person

It's 5:15am. I'm the only one up and it's pouring outside. I love it.  I have always been a self proclaimed "morning person"BUT because I picked a career that also starts before the butt crack of dawn, I rarely get the chance to get anything done in the mornings and I hate it. I am alert (most of the time, it depends on how my night went...) and raring to go. lol.

I have to confess that I am totally jealous of my friends who have the mornings alone to get things done. I've always been better at hearing God in the mornings. Aka, doing my biblestudy/quiet time but rarely do I have time in the mornings since I already leave the house at 6:00 at the latest and earlier if my surgeon wants to start early or its a big involved case. When that happens I pretty much roll out of bed and go.

I have two particular friends, one who has since moved away and one who lives here. They actually both go to my old church. They both post sometimes, pictures on fb of themselves sitting on their back porch in the mornings doing their bbs and drinking their lattes. That is a dream of mine. One friend is in her mid 30's and her kids are MDO/school aged. The other friend is in her early 40's and owns her own business and therefore makes her own hours, her kids are in high school.  I have always struggled to find the best time to do my bbs and these two women have always been great examples. I would love to maybe go part time and have some quiet "God time" in the mornings to sit and think about what He has done for me and to pray for each individual child and also for my husband. The stage of life that I'm in right now makes that very difficult. I have this little short daily devo book that I try to remember to read before I go into work, just to put my attitude in the right place in the midst of working with difficult people and a fast paced environment. But it's not the same as getting to really dwell and pray, ya know?

I also work better in the mornings. I can get sooooo much done in the mornings around the house! I have a ton of motivation most days. So my goal, if i ever stayed home part time, would be to get up, get the kids off to school, do my bbs, clean the house, work out, shower and decide what we are having for dinner....all before noon. Haha. I've obviously never been a stay at home mom before cause I'm sure it doesn't always work out that way....haha. This is, of course, my schedule for when all my kids are in school. All things go to pot if you have babys/pre-schoolers at home...lol

Which brings me to another point. I'm am so pumped about my 30's being just around the corner. I'll explain why later. I can feel good changes are coming....not sure what they are....but I'm excited about starting a new chapter in my life. The previous chapter was pretty awesome.

Hope you all have a great Wednesday.

  1. I always envied that you were a morning person and were so perky and productive. I despise mornings and do my best work in the 7-midnight hours. It takes me forever to "wake up!" I too look forward to being able to actually do bible study in the mornings. I cannot get up early enough to do them. Josiah is our early bird, and is up and ready to eat breakfast at the crack of dawn! By the time I clean up breakfast, he's ready to eat again. haha! So my bible study time is after the kids go to bed. I'm glad you are excited about your 30's too!
